Pilgrimages & Spiritual Works
The Society's spiritual work includes pilgrimages as well as other annual devotions.
Each year the Society makes a pilgrimage to pray for the forthcoming year's work, for benefactors, Friends and those who have died. In 2006 and 2007 the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk was the Society's destination. In 2008 our pilgrimage will be to the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation of West Grinstead. If you would like to accompany the Society on this
pilgrimage, please email us.
Past Pilgrimages
- 2003: National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, Norfolk
- 2004: Avignon, closely associated with St. Catherine, also spending time at the nearby Benedictine monastery of Le Barroux
- 2005: St Michael’s Abbey, Farnborough.
- 2006-2007: National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, Norfolk
In past years the Society has supported the Forty Hour's Devotion at St. Etheldreda's, Ely Place, London, by keeping the first of the night watches before the Blessed Sacrament, singing the Offices of the Church and other devotions. It has ended with Benediction at 6.00am, followed by a hearty breakfast in the adjacent Smithfield Market.
The Society also has an Annual Requiem for Benefactors and the intentions of the faithful departed known to Friends of the Society.
