Worship as a Revelation: The Past, Present and Future of Catholic Liturgy
1st July 2008, London Oratory, Brompton
An ecumenical seminar and reception was held to launch Laurence Hemming’s new book, published by T&T Clark (Continuum). A Missa Cantata for the Feast of the Most Precious Blood was celebrated by the Provost, the Very Rev’d Ignatius Harrison, who then gave a most warm welcome of the book at the reception which followed. Several of the scholarly responses to the book are available to download by Fr. Aidan Nichols OP, Dr. Margaret Barker, and Dr. Joris Geldhof, as is the homily given by the Society’s Chaplain, Fr. Andrew Wadsworth.

Patronal Mass in Honour of the Feast of St. Catherine

The Society's annual Mass at St. Etheldreda's, Ely Place, London was followed by a drinks reception in the church's crypt.

Temple Themes in Christian Worship Launch and Reception

An ecumenical seminar and reception to launch Margaret Barker's new book, published by T&T Clark (Continuum). The seminar was held at the University of Notre Dame London Campus, followed by Solemn Vespers at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Warwick Street, London. A reception followed at the Reform Club.

Henri de Lubac SJ Colloquium

An ecumenical colloquium on the work of Henri de Lubac SJ to mark the first English translation of his study Corpus Mysticum, with papers by Dr. David Grummet, University of Exeter, and Dr. Laurence Paul Hemming, Heythrop College, University of London.

Presentation by Martin Mosebach

After Solemn First Vespers of the Immaculate Conception in the Church of the Oratory, author Martin Mosebach gave a presentation on his book Heresy of Formlessness, translated from the German publication Häresie der Formlosigkeit. Die römische Liturgie und ihr Feind. The presentation was supported by Family Publications Oxford, the distributors for Ignatius Press in the United Kingdom.

Ever Directed to the Lord Conference
October 2005
Held at Blackfriars and Merton College, Oxford, the conference was held to mark the end of the Year of the Eucharist declared by John Paul II, and in response to his Papal Encyclical Letter Ecclesia de Eucharistia. The conference was opened by Most Rev'd. Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Birmingham, and the main speakers were Professor Eamon Duffy, University of Cambridge; Rev'd. Dr. Jonathan Robinson cong. orat., University of Toronto; Professor Lauren Pristas, Caldwell College, New Jersey; Rev'd. Dr. Laurence Hemming, Heythrop College, University of London; Rev'd. Professor Paul Bradshaw, University of Notre Dame, London Campus; Dr. Susan Frank Parsons, Society of St. Catherine of Siena. A report on the conference entitled Changing Hearts and Minds was published in the February 2006 issue of Mass of Ages, the magazine of the Latin Mass Society. A colloquium and retreat for theologians teaching in institutes of higher education led by His Eminence Cardinal Angelo Scola, Patriarch of Venice, at Maryvale Institute, Birmingham.

A colloquium with Catholic theologians on the Encyclical Letter Ecclesia de Eucharistia held at Heythrop College, University of London and introduced by Professor Eamon Duffy, University of Cambridge.

Redeeming Truth: Considering the Faith
May 2003
Held at Heythrop College, University of London, the conference was was held in celebration of the new English translation if the Papal Encyclical Letter Fides et ratio, and revolved around the Holy Father's call to address the question of truth. Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor, Archbishop of Westminster, opened the proceedings. The main speakers were Professor James McEvoy, National University of Ireland, Maynooth; Professor Denys Turner, University of Cambridge; Dr. Stephen Mulhall, New College, University of Oxford; Dr. Laurence Paul Hemming, Heythrop College, University of London; Dr. Pamela Sue Anderson, Regents Park College, University of Oxford; and Dr. Susan Frank Parsons, Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge. The conference papers, together with a number of scholarly contributions, were published by SCM-Canterbury Press / University of Notre Dame Press in spring 2007.

Liber de Causis Seminar
October 2002
A seminar on Thomas Aquinas's commentary on the Liber de Causis with Muslim, Jewish and Christian theologians. Held at the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge, the seminar was introduced by Rev'd. Professor David Burrell CSC, University of Notre Dame USA.

Ite Missa Est! Transubstantiation, Holiness and Living Eucharist
February 2002
Held at the Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge, this conference focused on what happens in the celebration of the Eucharist, including a broad consideration of the significant and controversial place of sacramental theology in the encounter of faith and contemporary culture. Proceedings were opened by Rt. Rev'd. Kevin McDonald, then Bishop of Northampton, and main speakers were Dr. Clare Watkins, Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge; Professor Lieven Boeve, Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven; Dr. Laurence Paul Hemming, Heythrop College, University of London; and Dr. Susan Frank Parsons, Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge. Conference papers were published in the Heythrop Journal in October 2003 (Viol. 44).

Dominus Iesus Colloquium
September 2001
Held at the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology, Cambridge, the colloquium brought together Catholic theologians to discuss the the declaration Dominus Iesus. The event was introduced by Rev'd. Dr. Michael Barnes SJ, Heythrop College, University of London.

Contemplating Aquinas: On the Varieties of Interpretation
June 2001
Held at Heythrop College, University of London, the conference focused on the range of approaches to St. Thomas Aquinas that have emerged in the Anglophone world, providing an forum for debate on key issues in contemporary Thomist studies. Opened by Rt. Rev'd. Malcolm McMahon OP, Bishop of Nottingham, main speakers were Fr. Fergus Kerr OP, Blackfriars, Oxford; Dr. Anna Williams, University of Cambridge; Professor Mark D. Jordan, Emory University, USA; and Professor Rudi te Velde, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Conference papers, together with eight other contributions from scholars in North America and Europe, were published in September 2003 by SCM-Canterbury Press / University of Notre Dame Press.
