History

April 2000: The Society is formed on the feast day of St. Catherine of Siena.

29 October 2000: The Society charitable trust is inaugurated at Blackfriars, Oxford at a Mass celebrated by the Rt. Rev'd. Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Birmingham.

November 2001: The Question of Catholics Teaching in Institutions of Higher Education in Great Britain working group is founded under the chairmanship of Bishop Malcolm McMahon OP.

15 August 2002: On the Feast of the Assumption, the Society initiated its formal connection with the English Province of the Order of Preachers. The Society has its spiritual home within the Dominican order.

August 2003: The Question of Catholics Teaching in Institutions of Higher Education in Great Britain working group's paper, the result of a two-year study, is discussed at the annual conference of the Catholic Theological Association (CTA) of Great Britain.

April 2004: Year of the Eucharist working group is established.

October 2005: The Society awards its first Research Fellowship in Liturgical Theology, to begin in 2006, at its conference at Blackfriars, Oxford.

December 2007: St. Nicholas initiative and working group are established.

May 2008: The Society awards its second Research Fellowship in Liturgical Theology, co-sponsored with CIEL UK, for the academic years 2008-2010.
